Kafka Museum, Prague

I went to the Kafka Museum in Prague today. Sharing some of the texts that made me think and imagine and understand him a little better.

Franz Kafka (1883-1924)
Kafka in Prague / Prague in Kafka

The way in which Kafka depicts his city presents one of the most enigmatic approaches in modern literature. He transforms Prague into an imaginary topography. The city takes a step back, and is no longer recognizable by its buildings, bridges and monuments. These structures function in the role of metaphors and allegorical places.

(Emotional load much)

Civil Servant and Artist - I am nothing but literatureMy job is unbearable - conflicts with my only calling, literature
Nobody wants to introduce as many reforms as children doMy education has done me great harm - Diaries
Writing and office cannot be reconciled - Letters to FeliceMy job is unbearable for me - museum glass case

One of the most remarkable literary figures of the 20th century.

What a troubled life.

As I go deeper in trying to understand the man, I wonder what's the correlation in non linear paths, pain and creative output.

And to imagine we would have never known the man had his best friend adhered to his dying wish to have all of his work burned.

Fuck 🥃
